Welcome to Wallingford Medical Practice

Situated in the market town of Wallingford, in purpose built premises located next to the Community Hospital we have over 16,000 patients in Wallingford, Cholsey and surrounding villages.  We are a dispensing practice, which means that patients living more than a mile from a chemist can collect their medications from our friendly dispensary.  We offer a full range of primary care services, with appointments available Monday-Saturday as well as some late evening and Sundays (see the appointments section for details).

FLU CAMPAIGN IS DIFFERENT THIS YEAR - the availability of flu vaccines to practices has changed this year and as a result we have had to change our usual clinic plans. Public Health England have issued two different vaccines based on their effectiveness for patients who are either under or over 65 years of age, the vaccine you receive will therefore be age specific.  The other change is that Public Health England have also instructed vaccine suppliers to stage deliveries of vaccines to practices.  We are inviting patients to clinics as soon as we have the correct vaccine available, each clinic can only offer the number of appointments to match our stock availability and we have planned clinics to take place as quickly as possible after delivery of vaccines.  Our reception team are receiving an increasing number of calls from patients asking for detailed explanation of the changes and this is blocking our phone lines for patients who need to contact us for other things.  We want to reassure you that we are working as quickly as possible to vaccinate patients so please bear with us.  We currently have the following availability but places are limited on all dates.  The clinic on Saturday 3rd November will be extended in numbers and patients will be contacted by email or text once we have confirmed additional spaces.

Saturday 20th October under 65s ONLY

Saturday 3rd November over 65s ONLY

Please call 01491 835577 (after 10am) to book an appointment for a flu vaccination.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT WE DO NOT OFFER A WALK-IN SERVICE, YOU MUST BOOK AN APPOINTMENT TO BE SEEN

VACANCY - we have a vacancy for a Medical Secretary, please see our vacancies section.

Prescription requests - register for online services via EMIS Patient Access to order repeat prescriptions.  Requests coming via Patient Access will be processed faster and can go directly to the pharmacy (or our dispensary, if applicable).  For more details of how to register for online services, please see the 'Online Services' page of our website.

Booking an appointment on-line - Registering for online services via EMIS Patient Access allows you to make appointments online.  Booking your appointment on-line means you have access to all of the available GP appointments so have the same options as ringing or coming to the surgery to book.  You can even download an app to your smartphone, allowing you to make an appointment whilst out and about.  For more details of how to register for online services, please see the 'Online Services' page of our website.

Late evening and weekend appointments availability - As part of the government’s pledge to provide a 7 day NHS they have proposed a pilot scheme which will provide additional access to patients during evenings and at weekends. See the appointments section for further details.

Wallingford Community Hospital ward cover is being provided by Dr Morris during October, November and December.  Dr Morris will have reduced appointment availability during this time to care for the patients at Wallingford Hospital.  All Partners share the responsibility for this on a 3 month rota basis and we will keep you informed as it changes.  You will be offered an appointment with another GP if Dr Morris does not have an appointment available.

Health Walks

We would like to tell you about the Health Walks being arranged through Wallingford Medical Centre Patient Participation Group. These walks are for beginners to mid experienced walkers - walks take about an hour. The pace will be slightly more than a gentle stroll, so that we can benefit from the exercise, thus not advisable if you have any injury/medical condition that prevents this.

Walks will all start from Crowmarsh recreation ground at 10.30 am on the following dates:

Saturday 27th October

Saturday 10th and 24th November

Saturday  8th and 22nd December
