Practice Overview

The doctors work closely with the Practice Staff, Nurses, community Nurses, Community midwives, Health visitors and counsellor who are all attached to the Practice.

The Practice Staff are headed by our Practice Manager, Mrs Janet Newman. The team is made up of receptionists, secretaries, computer operators, dispensers and our IT Manager Mr Andrew Knight. Our staff are alays happy to answer your queries, make appointments, handle repeat prescriptions and deal with a hundred and one other matters as well. We rely on them for the smooth running of the system. Their task is not always an easy one, especially when dealing with with such a large patient population (over 14,000). Be as patient an as co-operative as possible. We in return will try and deal with your requests as speedily and efficiently as possible.

As well as our six partners we have three female Doctors who work on a part time basis, running regular surgeries each week, Dr Jacquie Cornell,  Dr Elizabeth Eley and Dr Victoria Hance. Doctor Cornell does not have a list of patients but is happy to see any patient should their own Doctor be away or if you particularly wish to see a female Doctor. Dr Elizabeth Eley and Dr Victoria Hance share a patient list. Dr Cornell specialises in women's health and together with our Practice Nurses runs a family planning clinic.

The Practice is a Training Practice which means that we engage in the training of fully qualified Doctors who wish to become General Practitioners. These Doctors are called GP Registrars and will spend up to a year with us. You may be offered an appointment with our current GP Registrar who is Dr Bindu Mathews.

As part of their training they have to video some consultations and you may be asked if you would consent to having your consultation videoed. You will be asked to sign a consent form and it will never be done without your prior consent. You are under no obligation to do this.

We also have a medical student join us for a period of 2 weeks at a time, they usually sit in on consultations with your Doctor. You will be given an opportunity to say if you wish to see your Doctor alone.

From time to time we may use a locum Doctor to cover surgeries in the more prolonged absence of a Doctor. All locums are fully qualified GP's, registered and checked with the GMC. We tend to use locums that we know personally or come recommended from local practices
