Monday to Friday
There is individual variation between doctors, but in general surgeries run from 8.30 to 11.00 and from 3.00 to 5.00.
Nursing appointments are available throughout the day.
We offer appointments for blood tests from 8.00 during the working week. Due to the time samples are collected to transport them to the hospital, we are unable to offer blood test appointments for Friday afternoons or at weekends.
We are open every Saturday morning with pre-booked appointments from 8.20 to 11.30. These appointments are designed for patients who work in the week and have difficulty taking time off for appointments.
GPs take it in turns to cover these sessions. Nurses and HCA's also take part in this rota, they are able to offer cervical smear testing and travel vaccinations in these appointments.
As part of the government’s pledge to provide a 7 day NHS they have proposed a pilot scheme which will provide additional access to patients during evenings and at weekends. The GP practices across South East Oxfordshire will be working as a collective to provide the recommended number of these additional out-of-hours appointments each week.
PLEASE NOTE: These appointments will be aimed at routine GP care and will NOT replace the current urgent 111 service. If you require an urgent GP appointment when your surgery is closed then you will still need to call 111.
Each surgery will be providing services at different times and on different days however you will be able to book into an available slot at ANY of the participating surgeries. If you give your consent then the clinician who sees you will have access to view your medical record.
Please note that if you feel an onward referral to a specialist or any further investigations may be required, then it may be better to arrange an appointment with your own doctor; however, this is not essential.
Due to the nature of these appointments we would ask that patients try and limit their queries to one problem only.
This pilot scheme is due to run from January 2017 until the end of March 2018. After this initial period the success of the pilot will be assessed and a decision made whether to continue the service.
Participating Surgeries: The Bell Surgery, The Hart Surgery, Nettlebed Surgery, Sonning Common Health Centre, Wallingford Medical Practice, Morland House, Wheatley, Mill Stream Surgery, Benson Goring & Woodcote Surgery, Chalgrove & Watlington Surgeries, The Rycote Practice.
